What is an .CPS file?

.CPS is The Powder Toy Save File

A CPS file contains a saved simulation created by The Powder Toy, a 2D physics game used for simulating particles, air pressure, gravity, and heat. It stores the data for the simulation in a compressed format and can be distributed to others to share simulations.

The Powder Toy allows you to play with different substances to simulate the effects of different property interactions. The game comes with a variety of liquids, gases, electronic components, and building materials that you can use to build terrains, explosives, buildings, and more. During gameplay you can choose to save the simulation, which will store the simulation at that point in time, which can be loaded later.

To save a simulation and create a CPS file, click the file and arrow icon in the bottom toolbar, and name the file. To open a simulation stored in a CPS file, click the file and arrow icon on the left side of the bottom toolbar and choose the CPS file you want to open.

A CPS file is a styles file created and used by Adobe Captivate, an eLearning content creation program. It contains a style for an object, which consists of visual attributes, such as font or color.

CPS files allow you to export and import custom styles for objects from one Captivate project to another. The application comes with predefined styles but they can be modified. Also, objects in a project automatically inherit the styles defined in the project's theme, but theses can also be modified.

To export a CPS file, select Edit → Object Style Manager... and click Export....

To import a CPS file, select Edit → Object Style Manager... and click Import....

How to solve problems with CPS files

  • Associate the CPS file extension with the correct application. On :
    Windows: Right click on any CPS file and then click "Open with" > "Choose another app". Now select another program and check the box "Always use this app to open *.CPS files". Mac: Right click (or Ctrl-click) the CPS file, then click "Open with" > "Other...". Then choose another program and check the "Always Open With" box. Linux: Right click on the file, and select "Open with" and choose another program. iPhone: Tap the file. If you do not see an app to open the file, then tap Share "Share" and choose an app. Alternatively, save the file. Then open the Files app Files app. There long-press on the file, then release your finger. You will see a black menu bar. Then tap "Share" and select an app. Android: Tap the Settings icon on your smartphone, then tap on the Apps section. There tap the Options icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to change the default apps.
