What is a .Z08 file extension?

.Z08 is Split Multi-volume ZIP compressed file archive (part 9)

The z08 file extension is associated with WinZIP. Its one part of a multi-volume compressed ZIP archive.

ZIP is the native format of WinZip archiver. In WinZIP you can split a huge archive to a few smaller files, which are called parts.

WinZip uses this split file sequence for multi-volume archives:

  • .zip or exe (SFX) for first volume
  • .z01, z02, z03 ....etc. for any additional volumes

In order to unpack the multi-volume ZIP archive, you need to place ALL of the split parts in the same directory and start extraction of the first volume. The program will automatically use all of the parts to extract the content of the archive.

How to open:

The *.z08 (e.g. Avatar.z08 file) file is only one part of WinZip split compressed archive. If you want to extract this file, you must have all parts of the WinZip split compressed archive.Open the first part of WinZip (e.g Avatar.zip file) split compressed archive in WinZip application and extract files from WinZip split compressed archive.

It is not possible to convert only one part of ZIP multi-volume archive. Only complete ZIP archive can be converted in to another archive or compression format. The easiest way how to convert complete ZIP multi-volume archive is to decompress the ZIP archive with the use of WinZIP and repack the content with another compression or archive application of your choice.
