Microsoft Works (also "MS Works") is a streamlined version of MS Office and does not include all the features available in the Office programs. MS Works was discontinued in 2008 and was later replaced with Microsoft Office Starter Edition.

NOTE: Microsoft Excel 2003 and earlier could open WKS files, but support for the WKS format was removed in Excel 2007. However, Excel may still be able to import data from a WKS file without the formatting.
