File Type 2 TIFF Simple Rare File
Developer by: ISO/TC 42/WG 18 Category: Raster Image Files

Image format based on the TIFF/EP standard for the storage of partially processed camera raw images; removes the need for metadata that supports partial processing operations, such as defective pixel removal, demosaicing, flat field correction, distortion correction, and dark subtraction, which makes the image file and file readers simpler and more interoperable.

The TIFF simple rare format is a simplified standard raw format that can be used by a variety of cameras and applications. It was developed for users who want an open standard raw format and an alternative to proprietary camera raw formats that include tags not specified in ISO 12234-2. This format is intended to become standardized and used across all sorts of cameras and applications.

NOTE: Currently, there is no commercial software available that can write or read TSR files.
