World of Warcraft Add-on Table of Contents File

File used by World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG); contains table of contents information for a user interface add-on; used to describe the add-on name, description, saved variables, and instructions for how the add-on should be loaded.

TOC files contain lines of text with "##" tags followed by a series filenames. First, tags describe information for the client. For example, "## Version: 1.2" may provide the add-on version. Second, a list of filenames describes the order in which the add-on files are loaded.

NOTE: TOC files often reference Blizzard Texture files (.LUA) and .XML configuration files.

How to Open .TOC file on different platforms

Open .TOC File on Windows

  • Right-click a .TOC
  • Left-click "Open With" > "Choose another app"
  • Select the program that opens .TOC file and Select check box "Always use this app to open .TOC files" Press "Ok"

Open .TOC File on Mac

  • Right-click (or Ctrl + Left-click) the .TOC file
  • Click "Open With" > "Other.."
  • Then choose another program from the app list and press "Open"
  • Select check box "Turn on" for "Always open in app"

Select a file. If you don't see an application to open the .TOC file, tap "Share" and choose the right app.

Save the file. Then open the app «Files». Touch and hold the file, then release your finger. You will see a black menu bar. After that tap "Share" and select an application.
