.S3 is Motorola S-record data
The s3 file extension is related to Motorola devices. Motorola S-record file consists of a sequence of specially formatted ASCII character strings. S-record will be less than or equal to 78 bytes in length.
The S-Record format was designed to be used loading the data from the host computer to the receiving computer. It is designed to be visually readable and even though it looks like mumble jumble it is very readable once you know how.
.S3 file format is deprecated and this file format is no longer supported.
Currently, .S3 file type is not actively used and is obsolete. This usually happens with system files in older operating systems, files from long-discontinued software, or with previous versions of some file types (documents, projects, images, etc.) that were replaced in later versions of the original programs.
