.PMQ is Microsoft Target Analyzer File

File created by Target Analyzer (ta.exe or tap.exe), a program included in the Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio development kit; stores system-level information about a device for which the developer is targeting to run Windows XP Embedded (XPe) or Windows CE.

By running the Target Analyzer on a device, the developer creates a PMQ file containing a list of components for the target device. This file can be imported into the Target Designer and Image Configuration Editor programs, which are used to prepare the final configuration and image to be loaded on the device.

NOTE: Windows XP Embedded is used for running embedded software systems in kiosks, point-of-sale devices, and other standalone systems.
