The PIXELA file is the main file type associated with Pixela. To create a PIXELA file, select File → New Project, draw your image, then select File → Save Project.

Each layer in a PIXELA file is a 36x36 grid that can be filled in with different color brush strokes. You can choose to make each layer visible or transparent. To export layers as a PNG file, select File → Export Layers as Sprite sheet. To export a current layer, select File → Export Current Layer Only.
