.P2C is Portal 2 Community Puzzle File

A P2C file contains a community, or co-operative, puzzle used by Portal 2, a first-person puzzle solving game. It stores the definition of puzzle in a voxel X Y Z (X is right, Y is forward, Z is up) format where each voxel represents a 1 x 1 x 1 panel area in the puzzle. P2C files also contain metadata about the puzzle, which includes the title, description, creation time, and version.

P2C files are saved in plain text and can be opened and edited by a text editor. They can also be opened by the level editor included with Portal 2 and exported to the .VMF Valve Map file format.

P2C files are located in the following directory:

How to Open .P2C file on different platforms

Open .P2C File on Windows

  • Right-click a .P2C
  • Left-click "Open With" > "Choose another app"
  • Select the program that opens .P2C file and Select check box "Always use this app to open .P2C files" Press "Ok"

  • Right-click (or Ctrl + Left-click) the .P2C file
  • Click "Open With" > "Other.."
  • Then choose another program from the app list and press "Open"
  • Select check box "Turn on" for "Always open in app"
