What is an .OTM file?

.OTM is Outlook Macro File

Macro created with Microsoft Outlook, an email application; contains scripted functions written in Microsoft's VBA language; often used for automating repetitive tasks, such as scanning email messages or collecting file attachments.

By default, the Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions of Outlook store macros in the file VbaProject.otm. Outlook saves this file in the following user directory: \Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook.

NOTE: You must enable macros in the Outlook security settings in order to run them.

An OTM file is a matrix template created by Origin, a data analysis and graphing application used by various scientists and engineers. It contains settings for a matrix, such as style and formatting and the number of rows and columns. OTM files are used to create .OGM matrices.

You can only open OTM files with Origin, which can be used to create, open, and edit OTM files. The program is only available for Windows.

To open an OTM file in Origin, select File → Open..., select the "Origin Template .otm" file type, navigate to the OTM file location, and click Open.

NOTE: The release of Origin 2018 included an updated unicode format for saving workbook templates (.OTMU), which features performance advantages over the older, non-unicode OTM file format.
