What is a .ODP file extension?

.ODP file extension is created by Oracle. .ODP has been classified as Data Files. The format of .ODP file is Zip.

.ODP is OpenDocument Presentation

An ODP file is a presentation created by Impress, a presentation editing application included with Apache OpenOffice. It contains a presentation, which generally includes a title slide followed by content slides with text, images, multimedia content, and transition effects. ODP files are formatted using the OASIS XML-based OpenDocument standard.

ODP file open in Apache OpenOffice Impress 4.1.3

ODP files may also be created and opened by an open source variant of OpenOffice. However, most ODP files are created by Impress, which is one of several programs available in the OpenOffice suite. It is similar to the PowerPoint program available in the Microsoft Office suite. The ODP file is the main file used by Impress to save presentations the same way that PowerPoint saves presentations in the .PPT or .PPTX file.

Apache OpenOffice is available for free making it an attractive alternative to Microsoft Office. In order to save money, some users install OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office, which means that you may be sent an ODP file instead of a PPT or PPTX file for a presentation such as lecture materials, picture slide shows, or business presentations.

NOTE: Apache OpenOffice was formerly known as OpenOffice.org.
