.MXFR is Mandelbrot Explorer Fractal Region File

Data file created by Mandelbrot Explorer, an application used for viewing Mandelbrot and Julia fractal images; contains the parameters for a fractal region, including the min and max X and Y coordinates, resolution, magnification, and the fractal type; used for saving a zoomed view within a fractal image.

Once an MXFR file is opened, the program generates the fractal image using the fractal region parameters. Users can enhance the image by applying a monochrome, grayscale, or color scheme to the resulting visualization. Fractal regions and color schemes can be saved together using .MXAD files.

MXFR files are stored in an XML format, and may be opened with any text editor.

NOTE: Mandelbrot Explorer version 2.5 and earlier saves fractal regions with the .FRR extension.
