Game map file used by Heroes of Might and Magic II (HOMM2) with The Price of Loyalty expansion pack; contains map data that describe the gameplay environment such as tiles that make up the appearance of swamps, grass, ice, mountains, and trees.
MX2 files can be opened and edited only by the game's map editor.
NOTE: MX2 files are also used by Heroes of Might and Magic II Gold, which packages the standard game with the expansion pack. MX2 files are similar to the .MP2 files used by the standard Heroes of Might and Magic II game.
