An MVP file is a video project created by Movie Edit Pro (MEP) and Video Pro X, movie editing applications. It stores references to one or more .MVD movies, edits, effects, titles, and other project settings. MVP files are different from MVD files since MVD files only store single movies.

MVP file open in MAGIX Video Pro X

When you first save a project in Movie Edit Pro or Video Pro X the MVP file is created to store the contents of the project. You can begin a new project by selecting File → New project.... You can save the MVP file by selecting File → Save project.

The MVP file is the main file associated with the Movie Edit Pro and Video Pro X applications. It is used to compile multi-movie projects together for burning to DVDs or exporting to other formats, such as .MXV, .M2TS, .MPG, and .AVI.

The MVP file can also be used to save a backup of a project. Select File → Backup copy and choose how you would like to backup your project.
