    Animation file created by the Motion Mixer component of the 3ds Max animation and modeling software; stores a multi-track mix of motion clips, which are stored in .BIP or .XAF files; used for compositing multiple motions into a single animation.

    Motion Mixer mixes stores information similar to the structure of a multi-track audio mix. The motion clips are similar to audio clips, since users can place clips anywhere on the timeline and add transitions and effects.

    MIX files can be reused across several different biped models (two-footed models). They can also be produced to a "mixdown," which can be used for correcting and smoothing abnormal or jittery animation movements.
