.M09 File Extension

The m09 file extension is associated with Microsoft Money, a personal finance management software, developed by Microsoft Corporation. As of 2010, the product is officially discontinued and no longer supported by Microsoft.

The mn1 to m16 files are created when you install a new version of Microsoft Money. As part of the conversion process, it creates a backup copy of your unconverted file.

The file uses the relevant extension to the version it was last used in.

These files are not required for Money to run, but you should be sure you will never revert to an older version of Money again before you delete them. Only these files can be opened in the previous version of Money, not the mny file.

.M09 file format is deprecated and this file format is no longer supported.

Currently, .M09 file type is not actively used and is obsolete. This usually happens with system files in older operating systems, files from long-discontinued software, or with previous versions of some file types (documents, projects, images, etc.) that were replaced in later versions of the original programs.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .m09 file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
