.JKM is JAWS Key Map File

File used by JAWS, a screen reading program that enables text to speech functionality in Windows; saves keystroke assignments that act as hotkeys for interacting with the JAWS software; may be the default key map used by the software or a custom user-defined key map.

JKM files use a plain text, comma delimited format. They store the hotkey codes and the corresponding function names that are run when the hotkeys are invoked.

NOTE: JKM files are edited using the Keyboard Manager, which is included with JAWS.

How to Open .JKM file on different platforms

Open .JKM File on Windows

Right-click a .JKM

Left-click "Open With" > "Choose another app"

Select the program that opens .JKM file and Select check box "Always use this app to open .JKM files" Press "Ok"

Right-click (or Ctrl + Left-click) the .JKM file

Click "Open With" > "Other.."

Then choose another program from the app list and press "Open"

Select check box "Turn on" for "Always open in app"
