Spreadsheet created by Gnumeric, an open source spreadsheet program that is part of the GNOME Free Software Desktop Project; stores the formatting information, charts, mathematical formulas, and data used in the spreadsheet.

GNUMERIC files are similar to Excel spreadsheet files (.XLSX) and both contain data stored in the XML format. Unlike XLSX files, GNUMERIC files are compressed using GZIP compression.
