The gfm file extension is associated with the Applause application developed by Ashton-Tate that was a US based software company best known for developing the popular dBASE database application. Company was sold to Borland in September 1991.

The gfm file contains picture stored in Computer Graphics Metafile. CGM is a free and open international standard file format for 2D vector graphics, raster graphics, and text.

.GFM file format is deprecated and this file format is no longer supported.

Currently, .GFM file type is not actively used and is obsolete. This usually happens with system files in older operating systems, files from long-discontinued software, or with previous versions of some file types (documents, projects, images, etc.) that were replaced in later versions of the original programs.
