.FTM is FamiTracker Module

Audio tracker module created with FamiTracker, an audio program used for producing music for Nintendo (NES) systems; includes short audio samples and a series of notes that comprise the melody.

FTM files are saved in a proprietary format that can only be opened and edited with FamiTracker. However, songs created with FamiTracker can be exported to standard .WAV files or .NSF audio files.

NOTE: The name FamiTracker comes from "Famicom," which was the Japanese name for the original Nintendo system.

To create a FTM file simply select File → Save As... with your document of desired settings open, choose your save location (a helpful location is the Finale/Templates folder), name the file, select the FTM file type, and click Save.

To open a FTM file, select File → New → Document from Template and double-click on your FTM file.

NOTE: After the release of Finale 2014, the program began to use .FTMX files.

How to fix problems with .FTM files
