The cta file extension is related to ColorTouch Assistant from Venstar. The program allows users o set up and program their Venstar ColorTouch Thermostat.

The Assistant takes all of settings and writes them out to a .cta file. That file is put onto an SD card, which is inserted into the SD slot on the thermostat.  You then instruct the thermostat to read the settings off of the SD card, at which point your thermostat is programmed with your settings. 


How to open:

When this file is present on SD card, the Venstar ColorTouch Thermostat will automatically apply these settings.

How to convert:

Settings files cannot be usually converted to anythin useful.

How to fix problems with .CTA files

  1. You need to update the application that you normally use to open .CTA files. Only the latest version of the software supports the current .CTA file format
