What is a .CR file extension?

.CR file extension has been classified as Bitmap image Files.

.CR is Iris CT format bitmap image

The cr file extension is used for a special bitmap image format for Iris line of printers produced by Kodak.

An Iris printer is a large format color ink-jet printer manufactured by the Graphic Communications Group of Eastman Kodak, which is used for digital pre-press proofing. Iris printers use a continuous flow ink system to produce continuous-tone output on various media, including paper, canvas, silk, linen and other textiles.

Unlike most ink jet printers which fire drops only when needed, the Iris printers' four 1 micrometer glass jets operate continuously under high pressure, vibrated by a piezoelectric crystal to produce drops at a 1 MHz rate.

Drops that are not needed to form the image are deflected electro-statically into a waste system. The prints are noted for their accurate color reproduction. Iris printers are also noted for the low cost of their consumables compared to other printing technologies. Prints produced by an Iris printer are commonly called "Iris prints", "Iris proofs", or simply "Irises".
