A CP file is a project file created by Adobe Captivate, an eLearning content authoring tool. It stores a series of slides, each of which may contain static and dynamic content. CP files may include screen recordings and Flash embedded content.

CP files are commonly used for developing interactive eLearning products in a Flash format. Example products include software simulations and product demonstrations.

NOTE: Captivate version 5 introduced the .CPTX file extension, which is now used by default in the software. Version 5 can still open older CP files.
