What is an .CMP file?
.CMP is Windows Connection Manager Profile
Settings file created using Connection Manager, a suite of software components that enables system administrators to setup Windows remote connection profiles; saves information such as the username, password, and the phone number to dial.
CMP files enable administrators to configure initial settings for a user's dial-up connection.
NOTE: The Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) is the name of the Connection Manager tool used for setting up profiles.
File Type 2 HotDocs Clause Component File
Text module created using HotDocs digital form preparation software; saves a "clause" which contains text as well as HotDocs components (e.g., form fields); provides a reusable object for insertion into HotDocs templates (.HFT or .HPT files).
Clauses can either be specific to a template or to a clause library (.HDL file). For example, if you create a clause while editing a HotDocs template, it will be added to the template's CMP component file.
File Type 3 Solid Edge Wire Harness File
Wire harness designed with Siemens Solid Edge Wire Harness Design, an eCAD program; contains the wire routing and cable harness design used for organizing wires in a 3D assembly (.ASM) file.
Solid Edge provides live feedback for design violations in CMP files, which prevents incorrect wiring of devices.
File Type 4 Generic CADD Component File
Drawing component created with Generic CADD, an older CAD program developed for Windows; used for storing vector objects that can be inserted in a Generic CADD drawing (.GCD) file.
NOTE: Generic CADD has been replaced by General CADD Pro (GCP), which saves components as .GXC files. CMP files can be opened by both Generic CADD and General CADD Pro.
