File Type 2 Binary Printer Description File
Category: Data Files Format: Binary

Printer file used by the Microsoft PostScript driver for printing purposes; contains the binary version of the PostScript Printer Description File (.PPD); stores printer data such as font, DPI resolution, paper sizes, memory configuration, and other features supported by the printer.

The BPD file is created in order to decrease the processing time of the PPD file. The file increases the driver spooler efficiency, which is the ability to perform multiple tasks to write documents to the print queue to decrease waiting time.

Since the BPD file is the binary version of the PPD file, the BPD file must be given time to regenerate to reflect any changes made to the PPD file. If there is no BPD file when you start a printing process, a new BPD file will be automatically created from the PPD file.
