What is a .BIS file extension?

.BIS file extension has been classified as Various data Files.

.BIS is BeInSync data

The bis file extension is associated with BeInSync utility, a marketing and synchronization program for Windows, published by Phoenix Technologies and originally developed by BeInSync company.

This program allowed users to store their e-mails, web favorites and other files on secured server and access them from everywhere.

When the program copies one of the files to server it adds BIS extension tothe standard file extension, so for example photo.jpg will be renamed to photo.jpg.bis. Probably just normal renaming without added file encryption, so deleting the BIS suffix should restore the original file.

In 2008 Phoenix Technologies acquired BeInSync and the program is no longer available and probably no longer supported as well,.

.BIS file format is deprecated and this file format is no longer supported.

Currently, .BIS file type is not actively used and is obsolete. This usually happens with system files in older operating systems, files from long-discontinued software, or with previous versions of some file types (documents, projects, images, etc.) that were replaced in later versions of the original programs.
