What is an .ACP file?

.ACP is Alfresco Content Package

File used by Alfresco, an open source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software package; contains data exported from an Alfresco repository; includes XML metadata files and the content files, which may be documents, web files, images, records, or any other type of data supported by the Alfresco repository model.

ACP files are used for backing up repository data as well as for transferring data between Alfresco repositories. Any data exported by Alfresco can be imported by any other repository.

NOTE: ACP files are saved in a compressed .ZIP format even though they have the ".acp" extension.

File Type 3 EditPlus Auto-Completion File

File used by EditPlus, a source code text editor for C, C++, PHP, Java, and other languages; saved in plain text and contains rules for auto-completing text as the developer types source code; used for setting up keywords that trigger auto-completion.

The EditPlus installation includes three ACP files: 1) cpp.acp for C++, 2) htmlbar.acp for HTML, and 3) perl.acp for Perl.

How to solve problems with ACP files

  • Associate the ACP file extension with the correct application. On :
    Windows: Right click on any ACP file and then click "Open with" > "Choose another app". Now select another program and check the box "Always use this app to open *.ACP files". Mac: Right click (or Ctrl-click) the ACP file, then click "Open with" > "Other...". Then choose another program and check the "Always Open With" box. Linux: Right click on the file, and select "Open with" and choose another program. iPhone: Tap the file. If you do not see an app to open the file, then tap Share "Share" and choose an app. Alternatively, save the file. Then open the Files app Files app. There long-press on the file, then release your finger. You will see a black menu bar. Then tap "Share" and select an app. Android: Tap the Settings icon on your smartphone, then tap on the Apps section. There tap the Options icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to change the default apps.
  • Update your software that should actually open .ACP is Alfresco Content Package. Because only the current version supports the latest ACP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Alfresco Software manufacturer website after an available .ACP is Alfresco Content Package update.
  • To make sure that your ACP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with antivirus software.
