What is an .5XE file?

.5XE is Line 6 POD HD500X Edit Preset File

Preset file created by Line 6 POD HD500X Edit, an application that enable you to edit instrument effects; contains settings for different effects such as "FX," "AMPS," "Mixer," and "Controllers;" different settings that can be customized within the effects include bass, tone, treble, tempo, channel volume, parameters, speed, and tempo sync.

To create the 5XE file, make any changes to your settings, select File → Save As..., name the file, choose the save location, and click Save.

To open the 5XE file, you can simply double-click the file. You can also open the file through the application, select File → Open, navigate to the file, and click Open.

In Windows, the default save location for 5XE files is in the following directory:

How to solve problems with 5XE files

  • Associate the 5XE file extension with the correct application. On :
    Windows: Right click on any 5XE file and then click "Open with" > "Choose another app". Now select another program and check the box "Always use this app to open *.5XE files". Mac: Right click (or Ctrl-click) the 5XE file, then click "Open with" > "Other...". Then choose another program and check the "Always Open With" box. Linux: Right click on the file, and select "Open with" and choose another program. iPhone: Tap the file. If you do not see an app to open the file, then tap Share "Share" and choose an app. Alternatively, save the file. Then open the Files app Files app. There long-press on the file, then release your finger. You will see a black menu bar. Then tap "Share" and select an app. Android: Tap the Settings icon on your smartphone, then tap on the Apps section. There tap the Options icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to change the default apps.
  • Update your software that should actually open .5XE is Line 6 POD HD500X Edit Preset File. Because only the current version supports the latest 5XE file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Line 6 manufacturer website after an available .5XE is Line 6 POD HD500X Edit Preset File update.
